Issue 2 delves into the underground world of board climbing, and the place these quirky, self-made setups have had in the evolution of bouldering over the years.

Board climbing exists at the very grassroots of bouldering culture. Historically crafted from minimal materials, and requiring less than scarce carpentry know-how, they spring up like foliage in empty space, cracks and corners, flowering into clashing and chalky hues of resin and wood complete with glorious idiosyncrasy. This issue explores the humble board as the work of art and site of innovation that it is, and how these objects have become central to boulderers and bouldering identity.

  • All our magazines are printed on FSC accredited paper, and posted your way in a biodegradable poly-bag.

For more information regarding what the FSC label means, click here.

  • We want this magazine to be financially accessible for all those who are interested. In the art and artistry of bouldering, in keeping print media alive in a meaningful way, in contributing to a slower form of story-telling. At the same time, to keep the project alive, we need to price the magazine in a way that reflects the efforts put into producing it, the range of people involved, and the scale of our readership.

Spotting, as an act, is about trust and mutual support, a way of holding each other up. By offering a sliding price scale, we hope to apply these values to the way we share the magazine.

12£. This is our community price. It’s the one we originally set when we launched the magazine, and we still want to make it available for those who can’t justify paying more.

15£. This is our standard price, more aligned with similar independent magazines. By paying this, you're helping us keep this project going a little while longer...

18£. This is our supporter’s price. By paying this you are giving us an extra boost and enabling access for others who have less to spare.

So, if you are in need of a spot, take one today. And if you are able to pay more, then know that you are helping others out by doing so.

  • We are sorry to say we are unable to take responsibility for the failed delivery of non-tracked orders.

We understand that the alternative is expensive but should you like to guarantee magazine arrival, please opt for ‘Royal Air Mail Tracked’. (Remember to also take in to account any additional charges your domestic postal service might apply for international shipments).

And feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding postage.
